Otter's Riverbank Home
The sun was setting over the river, casting a warm orange glow over the water and the family of otters that lived on its bank, where the sound of gently lapping waves and the sweet scent of blooming water lilies filled the air, and the one faintly strange thing that was always true there was that the trees seemed to lean in, as if listening, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze. Luna, with her soft, fluffy fur and bright, curious eyes, was sitting on a rock at the water's edge, watching the river flow by.
This afternoon, Luna had been looking forward to playing with her favorite stick, but when she went to fetch it, she found that it was stuck in the mud. She tried to pull it out, but it wouldn't budge. She tried again and again, but it still wouldn't come out. Luna felt frustrated, her paws scrabbling at the mud, her tail twitching with annoyance. She didn't know what to do, and she felt like giving up.
Just then, her mother, Aria, came swimming up to the bank, her fur glistening with river water. "You look like you're having trouble, little one," she said, noticing Luna's frustration. "What's wrong?" Luna explained about the stick, and Aria listened, her eyes understanding. "You're feeling stuck, just like your stick," she said gently. "Why don't you take a break and come for a swim with me?" Luna thought for a moment, then nodded, and together they slipped into the cool water, the river flowing smoothly around them.
As they swam, Luna felt her frustration start to fade, replaced by the gentle lapping of the water against her fur, and the warm sunlight on her back. When they finally climbed back out onto the rock, the sun was lower in the sky, casting a softer, more peaceful glow over the river. The sound of the water was quieter, too, and the trees seemed to be leaning in, listening, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze. From that day on, whenever Luna felt stuck, she would take a break and go for a swim, and she would always remember the feeling of the river flowing smoothly around her, and the warm, peaceful glow of the setting sun.
